Why motha grass is called C4 plant?

In 1966, two Australian scientists, M.D. Hatch and CR. Slack discovered the reduction pathway of CO₂. The first stable substance formed in this pathway is 4-carbon based Oxaloacetic acid. Therefore, this pathway is also called C₄ pathway, and plants demonstrating this pathway like Motha grass is called C₄ plants.
