How does ozones layer safe us from UV ray?

The ozone layer in the stratosphere is to some extent beneficial to living system on earth. However, the ozone in the troposphere is harmful to man and materials. Ozone layer exists between 15 km in the stratosphere. 90% of ozone is present in this region. Solar energy radiates with different wavelengths.

The UV radiation of 200 nm - 300 nm wavelength causes cancer to human body. Ozone layer absorbs such UV radiation to some extent. The remaining radiation reaches the earth. Thus the ozone layer acts as a filter and protects life on earth.
