Why do we use an electric fuse?

Electric fuse is used to stop the sudden large flow of electricity. In the case of fuse connection, current passes through a thin wire before entering the equipment. When a large amount of current flows through this thin wire, the fuse becomes heated and burns, as a result, it stops the current from damaging the equipment.
