What is scalar quantity?

Those quantities which only need their value to be expressed are known as scalar quantities.

Physical quantities which can be fully expressed by a magnitude only are called scalar quantities. Example: Length, mass, work, energy time, temperature, etc.

What is vector quantity?

Those quantities which require value and direction both to be expressed are known to be vector quantities.

Physical quantities which need both magnitude and direction to be fully expressed are called vector quantities. Displacement, velocity, acceleration, force, electric intensity, etc. are the examples of vector quantity.
